In short
Managed endpoint security is endpoint protection and EDR that someone else deploys, configures and looks after for you. Forever Systems manages products from Sophos, Check Point, Cisco, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne and others. Where you need round-the-clock monitoring, we add the vendor's 24/7 MDR service and handle escalation with you.

What managed endpoint security means
Every laptop, desktop and server is an endpoint, and each one is a way in for an attacker. Modern endpoint security combines prevention (next-generation antivirus, exploit and ransomware protection, device and application control) with detection and response, so suspicious behaviour can be investigated and stopped, not just known malware blocked.
Buying a good product is the easy part. The hard part is the ongoing work: getting the agent onto every device, removing the old antivirus cleanly, setting policies that protect without breaking line-of-business software, keeping exclusions under control, chasing devices that have gone quiet, and making sure someone sees the alerts that matter. In many small and mid-sized organisations that work falls to a busy IT generalist and slips.
Managed endpoint security is that work done as a service. At Forever Systems we deploy, configure and manage the endpoint product for you, and we can work alongside your own IT team if you have one. If you only need basic, centrally managed protection, our sister site explains managed antivirus; this page covers the fuller service, including EDR and the option of a vendor security operations centre.
What we manage
The scope of a managed endpoint security service is agreed at quote, but it usually covers:
- Deployment: pushing the agent through your RMM, Microsoft Intune, Group Policy or another tool, and removing the product it replaces
- Policy: protection, web, device control and application control settings designed around how your organisation works
- Exclusions: adding only the exclusions line-of-business software genuinely needs, and reviewing them so they do not become a blind spot
- Agent health: checking for devices that are unprotected, out of date or have stopped reporting, and following them up
- Updates: keeping agents on supported versions and planning upgrades between editions
- Device control: rules for USB storage and other removable media
- Alert routing: sending detections to the vendor's 24/7 SOC where you buy MDR, and to the escalation contacts you choose
- Licences: adding and removing devices, renewals and edition changes through your Forever Systems account
What we do not do is sit in front of a screen watching your endpoints through the night. Forever Systems does not run its own SOC. If you need round-the-clock monitoring and response, that comes from the vendor's own analysts in an MDR service, and we set it up and manage it for you. The split between you, the vendor and us is written into your quote.
Endpoint products we manage
We work with several vendors, so we can recommend what suits your estate and the licences you already own rather than a single product. The table describes each option; it is not a ranking.
| Product | Editions or modules | Detection and response | 24/7 managed option |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sophos Endpoint | Sophos Endpoint, Sophos EDR, Sophos XDR | EDR and XDR tiers on the same agent | Sophos MDR and MDR Plus |
| Check Point Endpoint Security (formerly Harmony Endpoint) | Basic, Advanced, Complete, Elite | EDR in every edition; XDR in Elite | Check Point MDR |
| Cisco Secure Endpoint | Essentials, Advantage, Premier | EDR, feeding Cisco XDR | Cisco XDR Premier, delivered as a Cisco-managed service |
| WatchGuard Endpoint Security | Basic, Prime, 360, Elite (renamed in April 2026; formerly EPP, EPDR and Advanced EPDR) | Endpoint isolation and response from Prime upwards | WatchGuard Core MDR, a module for Prime, 360 and Elite |
| CrowdStrike Falcon | Falcon Defend, Falcon Advanced Defend, Falcon Complete Defend | Prevention, device control and firewall management; Adversary OverWatch threat hunting in Advanced Defend | Falcon Complete Next-Gen MDR |
| SentinelOne Singularity | Singularity Control, Singularity Complete, and the Commercial and Enterprise packages built on Complete | EDR in Complete and above | Wayfinder MDR (formerly Vigilance), an add-on to the Commercial and Enterprise packages |
| Bitdefender GravityZone | GravityZone with EDR module | GravityZone EDR, extendable with XDR sensors | Bitdefender MDR |
| ThreatDown | Endpoint Protection, EDR | ThreatDown EDR, with isolation and ransomware rollback | ThreatDown MDR, or the lighter Managed Threat Hunting |
| TrendAI Vision One Endpoint Security | Core, Essentials, Pro | EDR sensor from Essentials | Discussed at quote |
If you already run one of these, we can usually take over management without reinstalling anything. If you are on Microsoft Defender, see MDR for Microsoft Defender for ways to add a vendor SOC to the licences you already pay for. Licensing units differ by vendor (Sophos counts users, most others count endpoints), which our MSSP pricing guide explains.

Managed endpoint security, managed EDR and MDR
These three terms overlap, and providers use them loosely. This is how we use them:
| Service | What it means | Who watches alerts out of hours |
|---|---|---|
| Managed endpoint security | Deployment, policy, health and licence management of your endpoint product | Nobody, unless you add a managed detection service |
| Managed EDR | Someone tunes your EDR and helps act on its detections; some vendor options add threat hunting with prioritised alerts and guidance | Vendor threat hunters in the lighter options; otherwise your contacts |
| MDR | A vendor SOC monitors, investigates and responds to threats 24/7 within limits you agree | The vendor's analysts |
Most organisations start with managed endpoint security and add MDR when they decide they need someone able to act at three in the morning. Because MDR runs on the same agent, adding it later is a licence and onboarding step rather than a new deployment. For the wider picture, see managed XDR, which extends detection beyond endpoints to email, identity, network and cloud.
How onboarding works
A typical move to managed endpoint security with Forever Systems follows these steps:
- Inventory. We count workstations, servers and virtual machines, note operating systems, and find devices that are unprotected or running more than one product.
- Recommend. We suggest a product and edition that fits your estate, existing licences and budget, and say plainly whether MDR is worth adding.
- Pilot. We deploy to a small group first, including the machines most likely to cause trouble, such as finance and line-of-business servers.
- Roll out. We replace the old product in stages, apply tuned policies and confirm every device is reporting.
- Agree escalation. We record who should be contacted about detections, and, if you have MDR, what the vendor SOC may do without asking.
- Manage and review. We handle changes, exclusions and licences, and can review agent health and detections with you at intervals we agree.
Timescales depend on the size of your estate and how many deployment tools you have; we set them out in the quote.

Endpoint security, Cyber Essentials and compliance
Endpoint security supports several things auditors, insurers and customers ask about. Cyber Essentials includes malware protection and security update management among its technical controls, and a well-managed endpoint product with patching helps you meet both. Evidence matters as much as protection: a managed console can show which devices are protected, which have outstanding detections and when policies last changed.
For organisations with heavier obligations, endpoint telemetry also feeds the logging and monitoring that frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001 and the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework expect. Our compliance guides map those frameworks to managed security services, and vulnerability management as a service covers the patching side in more depth.
Why manage endpoints with Forever Systems
We supply and manage endpoint security across several vendors, so our recommendation follows your estate rather than a single price list. Endpoint security is one part of our wider managed security services, so it can sit alongside managed email security, managed firewall services and vendor MDR under one arrangement. We can take on the day-to-day work your IT team struggles to find time for, keep the licences tidy, and add a vendor's 24/7 SOC when you are ready, without changing agent.
Pricing depends on the product, edition, number of users or devices and whether MDR is included, so ask us for a quote. Contact us to talk through your endpoints.

How Forever Systems helps with managed security
We do not run our own security operations centre. The round-the-clock monitoring, investigation and response come from managed detection and response services that established security vendors already run at scale. Our part is choosing the right one for you, setting it up properly and staying involved.
- Independent recommendation: we supply several vendor MDR, XDR and SIEM services, including Sophos MDR, Check Point MDR and Cisco XDR, so we can suggest the one that fits the tools you already own
- Setup and onboarding: we can deploy agents, connect integrations such as Microsoft 365 and work with the vendor through tuning
- Clear responsibilities: escalation contacts, response permissions and who does what are agreed with you in writing and confirmed at quote
- Ongoing management: we help with policy changes, exclusions, renewals and regular service reviews
- Wider security too: security awareness training, Cyber Essentials and cloud security advice
We work with businesses, schools, charities and public sector organisations across the UK.
Frequently asked questions
What is managed endpoint security?
Managed endpoint security is endpoint protection, often including EDR, that a provider deploys, configures and manages for you. It covers agent deployment, policies, exclusions, device health, updates and licences. Round-the-clock monitoring and response is a separate layer, usually a vendor MDR service, which Forever Systems can add and manage.
What do managed endpoint security services include?
Typically deployment and removal of the previous product, policy design, device control, exclusions, agent health checks, version updates, alert routing and licence management. The exact scope with Forever Systems is agreed and written into your quote.
Is managed endpoint security the same as MDR?
No. Managed endpoint security is about running the product well. MDR adds a security operations centre that monitors, investigates and responds to threats 24/7. With Forever Systems the SOC is the vendor's, in services such as Sophos MDR, ThreatDown MDR or CrowdStrike Falcon Complete.
Can you manage the endpoint product we already have?
Usually, yes. We manage Sophos, Check Point, Cisco, WatchGuard, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Bitdefender, ThreatDown and TrendAI products, and can often take over management without reinstalling agents. We review your current set-up first and tell you what we would change.
How much does managed endpoint security cost?
It depends on the product, the edition, how the vendor counts licences (per user or per endpoint), the number of devices and whether a 24/7 MDR service is included. Ask us for a quote and we will set out the options side by side.
